Part 2: Tying the vine

After cutting, the vine must be tied up while the eyes are still asleep, so that they do not rot. That would be a great pity, although new wood will emerge from the pod, but it will no longer bear fruit.

After cutting, the vine must be tied up while the eyes are still asleep, so that they do not rot. That would be a great pity, although new wood will emerge from the pod, but it will no longer bear fruit. And so the vine grower shapes a beautiful bush with hand-tying shears or pliers like a sculptor who creates in the open air. It bends and ties the plant so that it has a straight bark and evenly distributed fertile wood. He does not allow her to follow the sun, he chains her to the supporting wire in an arch, carefully so as not to break the lines. It is a good idea to do the "tie" only when the temperature has stabilized above the freezing point. Sap begins to flow fully through the wood - life pulsates and it bends more easily. Unbridled vines must be tamed by the vine grower several times a year in order to obtain a quality harvest. He does not rest for a moment, after cultivating the soil in the spring, he should fertilize the vine and protect it from overwintering pests and diseases even before it starts budding.
