The Red Stone Museum

Red stone you may recognize him from the films Pacho, the Hybský zbojník or Sokoliar Tomáš. It is among the most visited castles in Slovakia. Explore the northern bastion, castle guardhouse, inner and outer ramparts. We are sure that you will also be captivated by the underground of the castle with its vast cellars, which are among the largest in Central Europe. They also host the Small Carpathian Wine Route. 

TIP 1

Regular events are held at the castle, such as the Antiques Exchange, the Red Stone Crafts Market or the Children's Weekend at the Castle. In addition, a picnic in the park or a performance by falconers can be a great experience.

Budmeric manor house

Budmeric manor house only recently opened its doors to the public. Have you had time to visit it yet? You can view several rooms furnished with items that were part of the Home of Slovak Writers. Similar to the first case, here too you can spend the whole day thanks to the beautiful park. 

TIP 2

Make time on the weekend and visit excursions and guided tours on Friday, Saturday or Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

"The mansion in Budmericie is a collection of several styles and periods, supposedly because the count fell in love with a French countess, whom he wanted to marry. At first, he wanted to modify his mansions so that they reminded her of French castles. However, the woman in question got married before he could finish it.

Exposure created by the Budmerians from the antiques and rarities of their ancestors. Come and see historical costumes, ancient tools for processing textiles, beautiful embroideries and ceramics.

Šimák Castle Pezinok

You will feel like in a fairy tale. Walks after Pálffy apartments, Knight's Hall, visit Art glass galleries, which belongs to a unique art collection not only in Slovakia, but also in Central Europe. It's underground Winery Museum. And for connoisseurs, you will also find an unconventional candy here, a collection of JAWA motorbikes.

Try other activities in the vicinity: horse riding, cycling, hiking, wine cellars, ceramic workshops, museums in the city.

Small Carpathian Museum in Pezinok 

It has the largest collection of grape presses in Europe and is truly a sight to behold. You will experience a modern museum, where, in addition to knowledge, you will take away the experience of activities that draw you into the story. For example, a drunkenness simulator or an aroma bar. Experiential wine tastings in complete darkness or with special colored lighting and music are very popular.

The permanent exhibition "Zo Zeme" will transport you to the ancient past from prehistoric times to modern times. Archaeological findings tell you a story that reveals the way of life of people in Pezinok and its surroundings.

Schaubmar's mill

Visit one of the largest stream mills in Europe, which offers a permanent mill exhibition, various exhibitions and educational programs. Markets are also held here, where local sellers come. The icing on the cake is the new fruit tree row, which will soon be self-harvesting, so you'll be able to pick fruit directly from the trees.

Mining exposure

Get an insight into mining life through the mining exhibition, where you can see objects related to ore extraction, old photographs, maps of the mine workings and minerals from the Lesser Carpathians.

If you are interested in this exhibition, the Mining Educational Trail can be your guide to mining life, where you can learn even more. It's an easy hike where you just follow the green sign and soak up the information.

Ľudovít Štúr Museum, Ignác Bizmayer Gallery

Nowhere else will you learn as much about Štúr as in Modra. Apart from the known Museum of Ľudovít Štúr there is the Gallery of Ignác Bizmayer, the national artist who brought the secret of painted ceramics to Slovakia. His lifelong work fascinates visitors of all ages.
