Tourism a little differently? Nature trails are a great alternative

Having a nice day in the Lesser Carpathian region is really not a problem. This time we will look at 8 routes full of interesting information.

Choose after Vinohradník educational trail, which is 7 kilometers long. Whether you go on foot or by bike, you will enjoy a beautiful half-day trip. It is an easy route with a small elevation gain, so you can easily enjoy it with the whole family. Take 12 educational breaks along the way, where you will learn about one of the oldest sites in the Pezinok district, Stará hora hill. You will also walk past Vahadl's well, near which there is a gazebo, which is perfect for a small snack. Later, you will also pass the Rybník water reservoir and the "hájenky", the remains of old vineyards. 

TIP 1

Take a blanket, good food or a bottle of local wine with you and enjoy a picnic and a panoramic view of Pezinok in the stone house under Stará hora.

St. George educational trail

Do you want to experience the beauty of the picturesque town of Svätý Jur in urban or natural style?

  • City circuit will guide you along a two-kilometer educational trail through the historic core of the city. We recommend that you walk through it, as it will allow you to get to know the history of the city and enjoy the views of the Church of the Holy Trinity, the Monastery of the Piarists or the Church of St. George.
  • Natural circuit will take you outside the city walls along a 7.5 kilometer long educational trail. You can go for a walk or get off on the bikes. We have to point out that the nature circuit is a slightly demanding route. However, you will be able to rest during the 10 stops, which will be accompanied by a yellow tourist sign. It will take you through Gaštanica, the ruins of Biely Kameň Castle, the Jurassic Lake Nature Reserve and the Šúr National Reserve.

Mining educational trail in Pezinok

You will be guided through mining life in Pezinok by the Mining Educational Trail, which will take you through 11 stops. It starts at the place where the mining settlement of Zumberg stood in the Middle Ages. It passes through the Pezinok baths, continues through a mining field where pyrite was mined, and even brings you closer to gold mining. Enjoy an easy 2.5-hour hike and get to know the Lesser Carpathians from this site as well. See the entire route HERE.

Červenkamenská or Okolohradná wander 

Get to know educational places Stroll around the castle, which lasts 1.5 hours and takes you through 6 educational stops. Are you interested in a Jewish cemetery, a calvary built on top of a quartz rock or something else? We wouldn't be at all surprised if you spent the whole day around the Červený Kameň castle.

When we are near the Červený Kameň castle, a visit to the village of Častá will definitely be worth it and it would be a shame to miss it. You can find it here educational trail, which will take you through 14 interesting stops. For all of them, we can only mention the Gothic Church of St. Imrich, the Chapel of the Most Holy Savior and the Chapel of the Sorrowful Virgin Mary. When you are in the village of Častá, don't miss Margit's yard, where you can admire the wild horses grazing.

Include a small detour in your trip to Červený Kameň Castle and stop in the picturesque village of Píla. Why? Because the village has the most beautiful view far and wide of the Červený Kameň castle, and also because, in addition to this fascinating view, you will find another educational trail, which is only 3 kilometers long, but history lovers will find something to their liking.

St. James's Way

If you like more challenging pilgrimages, go on St. James's Way, which leads to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Of course, we are not saying that you should go through it all. After all, the Slovak section alone is 650 kilometers long. However, the part that passes through the Lesser Carpathians can be an interesting challenge. It measures 84 kilometers, starts in Trnava, continues to Budmerice, where the beautiful Budmerice mansion is located. It continues to Píla, Červený Kameň, Veľká Homoľa and Bratislava. Simply, quite a decent "walk".

Budmeric ponds

Learn something new about the Little Carpathians on the educational trail, which has 5 stops and is 4.5 km long. It passes through 3 protected areas, namely through the Small Karpaty Protected Bird Area, the Alúvium Gidry nature reserve and the Lindava nature reserve. Fishermen, skaters, horse lovers, and actually all lazy people will find their enjoyment here. You can be taken on horseback up to Budmeric Pond. So, if you want to explore, but don't want to walk or pedal, this place is perfect for that. 

Get to know the corners of the Little Carpathians and set out in search of knowledge. Play sports, soak up the atmosphere of nature and definitely don't miss any educational board. Goodbye in the Little Carpathians, friends.
