The first lady of Slovak popular music, Marcela Laiferová, will visit us. This time, however, not with their classic popular repertoire, but with chansons and carols.
This year, LECA production brought Marcela Laiferová's Chants to life on CD, which will be played at the concert accompanied by the piano of Ľubomír Dolný, the conductor of Bratislava's Nova scéna.
The legendary director Jozef Bednárik and a group of enthusiasts founded the Chanson Club in 2011. Marcela Laiferová was one of the performers who have been in the club since its beginnings. Thanks to the director Bednárik, she got into this genre. A chanson is not just an obligatory melodic song sung in French. A chanson is an actor's song or sentimentally sung poetry, a musical-dramatic aria or a vocal monologue. It can also be a classical song by Franz Schubert (if sung by a good actress), a Jewish klezmer couplet, a dramatic tango, a Brecht song, an aria from a musical, a cabaret singing number or a song by Leonard Cohen.
The chansons that Jozef Bednárik chose for actors and singers, including pop legend Marcela Laiferová, were all subtitled into Slovak, it was very important to him that the listener could understand.
The organizers dedicate the chanson evening in Pezinok to Jozef Bednárik.
