Experience an extraordinary weekend (August 25-27, 2023) full of creative connection of sounds with seemingly unconnected worlds around us at the Schaubmar mill in Pezinok. Festival SHE HAD with the dramaturgical program I'M THE PLACE this year will bring together female artists and researchers with a personal relationship to the places in the field where they have been working for a long time. At the festival, you can listen to Brazilian music and an extensive sound archive of birdsong.
At the international interprofessional festival SHE HAD this year we will meet female artists, female scientists who creatively work with sound and use the so-called active listening. In the field, in this way, they observe various phenomena from the fields of art, anthropology, ethnomusicology, and zoology and examine them in their original, natural place of origin. They will make their unique field diaries available to the audience during the festival in the form of lectures, musical performances, performative listening session or screenings.
The festival works with the concept of traveling curation, and this year David Petráš, who is dedicated to collecting disappearing sounds in the border areas of Slovakia, accepted the invitation to the position of festival guarantor. He listens to the last wetlands around the Ipeľ River, records original funeral songs around Lučenac and collaborates with photographer Lucia Nimcová on researching traditional music and the sound environment in the Ukrainian Carpathians. He is the dramaturg of the festival and association RUINY, which works with the forgotten architecture and local mythology of Novohrad and Gemer. He studied at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague.

- Musician IDA HIRŠENFELDER she grew up on a working water mill in Slovenia. He will revive his memories of the sounds of ubiquitous water with a site-specific installation in Schaubmar's mill.
- Swiss musician and ethnographer THOMAS ROHRER, playing the traditional musical instrument rabeca, will give a performative lecture about Brazilian music and collaboration with local musicians. At the same time, he will play a concert with DONA BENEDITA, a singer with an exceptional voice, who arrives from Brazil.
- Slovak ethnomusicologist JANA AMBRÓZOVA will present his research Soundscape and calendar customs in the area of the municipality of Telgárt. She will also bring a group of Roma musicians with whom she collaborated in the field to the MELY afterparty.
- Ornithologists DUŠAN KERESTÚR & MARIÁN MOJŽIŠ they map the life of birds around the Ipeľ river. The curator and founder of the mappa publishing house will work with them JAKUB JUHÁS and together they will prepare a discussion about listening in nature and make an extensive sound archive of birdsong available to the public.
- Grammy Award-winning American sound archaeologist and ethnomusicologist CHRISTOPHER C. KING will prepare a performative listening session of shellac records from the 20s and 30s and present his book Lament from Epirus: An Odyssey into Europe's Oldest Surviving Folk Music.
- Ethnographer and visual artist LUCIA NIMCOVA together with a musician DAVID PETRÁŠ they will curatorially prepare an expedition movie theater with archival materials of the performers and own records from the field.
