The Moyzes Quartet - one of the most important and longest-running chamber ensembles in Slovakia (operating since 1975) - will play Dež Ursiny's compositions in original arrangements.
The idea of connecting the music of Dež Ursiny with the string quartet was born long ago. It was in the spring of 2000 in Pezinok as part of the 1st year of the event DÉJÀ VUE – MEMORY OF DEŽ URSINY.
Dež Ursiny's music is built on specific and many times unorthodox and yet beautiful harmonies with non-classical melodies. This musical originality has great possibilities for the creation of a new valuable form precisely in connection with such a musically great body as the Moyzes quartet. Two violins, viola and cello. A selection of Ursina's compositions sound like something beautiful in these string arrangements, and these new arrangements add another dimension to his music. Deža's songs stand out even in such new cover versions, while still remaining natural and attractive. The originality of Ursina's musical poetics combined with the acoustic performance of the Moyzes quartet offers a truly noble experience. During this concert, you will feel the symbiosis of musicality with the artistic personality of Dež Ursiny and the Moyzes Quartet.
In the first concert performance, a selection of compositions from different time periods (1966-1990) will be heard, which reflect the wide range of Ursina's musical creations.
