The hearts of all tourists jumped in 2018, when a new lookout tower was erected on the site of the original lookout tower from 2001, which had to be dismantled. After all, we can't even imagine this place without a perfect result! Thanks to the Modran Tourist Association, the very first lookout tower that guaranteed it stood here since 1894.
But in order to get to the Alexander Filípek Lookout, you must first conquer Veľká Homoľa – a small Carpathian mountain at an altitude of 709.2 m above sea level. Where to go here or which route to choose? Here are some tips: you can get to the lookout in different ways, but practically from any side. The entire area is criss-crossed by an ingenious network of hiking trails with very good signage.
If you prefer easier hiking, we can recommend a route following the red sign from the bus stop near Zochová chata. You can get here from Pezinok - also on the red road - in about three hours. The golden middle path is the route from Modra - as usual, following the blue tourist sign. The ascent to Veľká Homoľa will take approximately 2 hours. The lookout tower is open all year round and entry is free.
Alexandra Filípka was named after the forest councilor who contributed to the construction of the Modran forest park and the creation of the popular tourist resorts of Harmónia and Piesok. 120 steps will lead you to the top, and the lookout tower will offer you an interesting circular view of the panorama of the Lesser Carpathians, Povačský Inovec, Tríbeč, and the Austrian Alps.
