You can spend your time in different ways - for example, in geoparks. They represent a new model of open space in which knowledge is combined with being in nature in the fresh air and unique experiences. We also have one such geopark in the Lesser Carpathian region.
What is nice about geotourism and geoparks is their emphasis on ecology. Their activities are aimed not only at supporting tourism, but also at its sustainable development.
Enthusiasts who wanted to build a geopark in the Small Carpathians were so excited by this idea that they couldn't back down. After all, this location - rich in minerals with an interesting history of the territory - is a natural space for a geopark. Hand in hand with this, the non-profit organization Barbora was founded, which helps cultivate selected sections of this area and organize thematic events.
You can also get to know parts of this vast territory. Choose, for example, the Šúrsky trail, or visit the revitalized nature and mining open-air museum Budúcnosť, where you can recharge your batteries.
A number of events, which Geopark Malé Karpaty covers, are also popular. The most famous of them is the Pezinský Permoník – a sought-after Small Carpathian exhibition of minerals, fossils and precious stones with a rich accompanying program. Orbis Harmoniae – The world in harmony, which is a presentation of various types of alternative medicine, is also included in the portfolio of events of the Malé Karpaty Geopark. The Huncokár festivities, in turn, refer to the former inhabitants of the local forests - the so-called Huncokars, i.e. "mountain people". These extremely hardworking descendants of the German population left a strong mark in the Small Carpathians.
