The invitation is really varied - you can explore the historic center with typical townspeople's houses, streets in a regular grid plan and the remains of the original walls. The city's treasury also includes the Šimák Castle with its surrounding park, four architecturally interesting churches and the Renaissance town hall. An engaging tour during which you will learn everything important about the local wine, its history and production is guaranteed by the Small Carpathian Museum and the Vinohradnícky educational trail.

For the first time, Pezinok is mentioned in documents from 1208 as "terra Bozin". Before it became a town of winemakers and vintners at the end of the 13th century, it lived off its underground wealth. At the beginning of the 16th century, after the second wave of German colonization, the interest in growing vines definitely began to prevail over mining. The fact that the city really prospered was also supported by King Ferdinand III's decision, when he granted Pezinka the privileges of a free royal city in 1647. Fame and prosperity came hand in hand in the 17th and 18th centuries, when Pezinok became one of the richest towns in Hungary thanks to wine. And as usual, those who aim for the stars can also fall deeply. It also happened to Pezinka as a result of the policy of the Habsburgs, who preferred Austrian wines and beer began to be widely consumed. In the next period, the vineyards were destroyed by powdery mildew and phylloxera. However, you should not think that the people of Pezin lived only on wine, there was also a brick factory, a factory for the production of needles, and even the first factory for the production of sulfuric acid in Hungary. In the 19th century, it was even possible to restore gold mining and establish a railway. Nevertheless, the first half of the 20th century meant industrial decline, a decline in wine production and emigration to America.

After the improvement of the situation came collectivization and after 1989 an attempt to return the tradition of small family businesses. Managed to! Pezinok wines triumph again in wine competitions. You can taste them during the Wine Markets, Pezina Wine Cellars, Vine Harvesting, St. Martin's Blessing of Young Wine and Wine Alleys, or the popular event in the vineyards under Stará Hora - Wine under the Stars, or Picnic in the Vineyards. The town also comes to life during other popular events such as the Pezinský permoník and the Ceramic Markets, where you should definitely try some of the Little Carpathian specialties – lox, duck and goose delicacies, strudels with various fillings, gergen, págáč, dry yeast dough and others. Today, Pezinok is the gateway to the Lesser Karpaty Geopark, and you can learn about its mining history thanks to the Mining Educational Trail and the Mining Exhibition of the Lesser Carpathian Mining Association.
