Šimák Castle Pezinok

Originally a water castle with double walls and moats, in its beginnings, in the 13th century, it was the residence of the nobles from Sväté Jura and Pezinok. For almost eight hundred years, it served as a symbol of wealth and power. The first written mention of the fortified castle dates from 1271. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the local counts defended the king against the Turks and the Hussites. They ruled for three hundred years until they perished by the sword. Then the owners, supporters and haters of the kings took turns here, even the rulers themselves owned it. Only the Pálffy family rebuilt the castle in Pezinok into a castle.

Count Pálffy's chambers are furnished as in the time of the greatest glory of this family. Paintings, carved original baroque furniture of the Hungarian aristocratic class and beautiful ceilings, doors and windows.

Collection of JAWA motorbikes Štefan Šimák Jr. is focused primarily on road motorcycles and especially unique pieces of the world-famous Czechoslovak and now Czech motorcycle brand. In the premises of ŠIMÁK ZÁMOK PEZINOK you can see 22 unique machines, even one prototype.

Museum of viticulture and winemaking - directly in the winery under the castle

In the Apostolic cellars, each barrel has its own story that reflects the time in which it was made. The oldest preserved is from 1807, where St. Leopold is depicted.
