Ignác Bizmayer Gallery

Ignác Bizmayer Gallery presents a representative selection of the works of the top representative of figural ceramic creation in Slovakia. It is located in the rotunda bastion of the city fortifications from the first half of the 17th century and was opened in 1994 during the World Congress of Ceramicists.

Ignác Bizmayer (*April 20, 1922 Košolná, western Slovakia) comes from a family with roots in Habana. As a small boy, he personally participated in archaeological ceramic research in his native village. This first encounter with the secrets of ceramics marked him for life. Thanks to his extraordinary sensitivity and deep sense of detail, during his fruitful life he portrayed a whole constellation of characters in their original natural environment. He transferred to the clay the departing old world, which has completely disappeared during the last decades. His works adorn the collections of many private collectors, museums and galleries, he exhibited them at several exhibitions at home and abroad. The exhibited works are the property of SNM-Múzea Ľ. Štúr in Modra and the Historical Museum in Bratislava.
