Modra House of Culture, small hall
On the eve of the Gentle Revolution, we invite you to a discussion. Our invitation was accepted by the former Slovak prime minister, today a professor of sociology and dean of the Faculty of Mass Media of the Pan-European University, Iveta Radičová, and lawyer Roman Kvasnica, who persistently defends people whose basic human rights have been violated by state authorities. Michal Kaščák will talk with the guests about the (post)revolutionary events, the development or twilight of democracy, the crisis of the political regimes of the Eastern European states and the constant struggle for basic human rights. (admission optional)

Modra House of Culture, Za Oponou Club
To be or not to be - that is the question! The discussion will be followed by a concert in the intimate premises of the Klub za Opona. Bene and Roland Kaník from the band Modré hory released a new album together. Come and listen to their rap beats passing sometimes into slam poetry and storytelling, in which they search for an answer to the age-old question "beat or not beat?" (admission optional)

Mier Modra Cinema, €6 | CAN, FR 2023 | animated, family film

November 17 at 7:30 p.m.: THE MAN WHO STANDED IN THE WAY
Mier Modra cinema, €6 | CR 2023 | drama, historical film
The gripping story of the doctor and politician František Kriegl captures the dramatic events of August 21, 1968, when he was arrested and kidnapped at night together with the main representatives of the Communist Party (Alexander Dubček, Oldřich Černík, Jozef Smrkovský, Jozef Špaček, Bohumil Šimon). He was the only Czechoslovak politician who stood up to Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev in captivity and under the threat of liquidation and did not sign the Moscow Protocol, a document that signified consent to the occupation of Czechoslovakia.
