The Underground Pearl of the Small
Carpathians is the only accessible cave in western Slovakia. It was discovered
in 1929 and opened to the public in 1934. It is located in the Smolensky karst
in the Small Carpathians southwest of Smolenice, near the recreational centre
Jahodník. There are typical sintered curtain with indented edging. Small
visitors will enjoy plenty of bats flying overhead during the cave tour. It is open to the
public from the beginning of April to the end of October, except on Mondays.
The sightseeing circuit is 450 m long, has an elevation of 10m and 151 stairs.
The air temperature is 7.1 - 7.8 ° C. The
tour of the cave takes about 35 minutes.
